about me
Hello! My name is Joaquín, I'm a visual development artist and producer from Argentina. Like almost every artist, I've had a passion for drawing for as long as I can remember. I can recall being a kid doodling at class in kindergarden, sometimes impressing teachers and some of my fellow 'colleagues' -although I wasn't impressing anyone with my social skills!-. I was a bit rough around the edges and I didn't like anyone looking at my creations. Seems a little ironic now that I want everyone to look at them... Oh, well!
I started my studio career in 2021, after graduating as an Illustration designer from University of Palermo, where I studied from 2018 to 2020. Before that, I had dropped out of Architecture in 2017, after realising I wanted to pursue a career doing what I love the most: drawing. It took a little while to make the call to move on to a career in art, but the joy of bringing my creative vision to life makes every bit of the journey immensely rewarding. My stay at University of La Plata gave me a lot of useful knowledge of architectural software and design, spacial sensibilities and technical art skills. But I have to say, I'm definitely happy that I took the leap.

In my work experience in visual development for animation and videogames, I've had the chance to take on character design, concept art, color keys, 2D frame-by-frame animation, technical drawings, prop design, costume design and 3D textures (PBR). I've worked in several projects, among which are Augmented Reality productions; live-action, 2D and 3D-animated commercials; PC and mobile videogames; and high-end 3D-animated shorts. I've been fortunate enough to work under the supervision of talented art directors and leaders, side by side with amazing 2D and 3D artists.

As a producer, I manage merchandise and design projects for videogame companies such as Bandai Namco, Skybound and nWay. My duties include project management, making of pitches, idea conception, market research, budgeting, sourcing, logistics, oversight of manufacturing, arrangement of payments, management of contracts, communication with clients, and briefing, directing and coordinating teams of 3D artists and designers, while working closely with the Creative Director.
A little more about myself... I'm a bit of a geek and I like to know a little know about everything from art, to films, to history, to music, to science. I truly believe that embracing a wide range of interests has allowed me to navigate the world of visual development with a holistic understanding of the creative process (hopefully).
